Patrick Sookhdeo, a former Muslim and advisor to British, American and NATO officials on jihadist theology, is warning that the liberalization of Christendom is encouraging the radicalisation of Islam, and warns that unless the churches in Europe get back to the central truths of Scripture such as holy living and salvation in Christ alone, that they will die and society along with them. Sookhdeo made the comments at a meeting in Focus on the Family's headquarters in Colorado Springs. Sookhdeo believes that the churches in Europe have become polluted through adopting our secular society's politically correct ideology. He asked the question whether the Lord is removing His candlestick of witness from Britain and Europe, because of their willingness to embrace other religions such as Islam, while failing to proclaim the truth of the Gospel. Sookhdeo noted that there are more Muslims being saved today than ever before, and at a time when we should be proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ, we are instead embracing their beliefs through fear of offending our fellow man. Quote: ""There is considerable disillusionment within the Muslim world and I think violence which we see... is producing an inner hunger within many Muslims for reality," Sookhdeo said. "The danger is at the very time we should be holding fast to our faith and onto our foundation and sharing those, the temptation is to weaken our position, to weaken it, and embrace the other." "So I want to say if we are going to fight this battle and fight it spiritually then we have to look at our own spiritual lives – our dedication to the Lord, our theological, our moral and spiritual and then move into prayer where we can deal with Satan... Of course I believe in love. But I think in our serious condition we need a new generation of prayer warriors with the prophets of God." I believe Sookhdeo has hit the nail on the head. Some Christians feel that we are engaged in a 'culture war', and that the only way of preventing radical Islam from making inroads into our society is by fighting against it. But I don't see things that way. Jesus Christ said, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men", Matthew 5:13. Unfortunately in the West, Christendom has largely lost its savour, and the rise of Islam in Britain may be a direct consequence of that. We need to be salt and light to the people living around us, and the only way we can do that is by living according to what the Bible teaches. Paul said of the Corinthians, "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men", 2nd Corinthians 3:2. How we need to be living epistles, known and read of all men! We are fighting a battle, but the enemy is not Islam. The Bible says "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places", Ephesians 6:12. We are fighting a spiritual battle against Satan himself, and the only way you can win a spiritual battle is to use spiritual weapons (2nd Corinthians 10:4). And that means going out there and telling the Muslims of their need of the prophet Isa - Jesus Christ, who is able to cleanse them from their sins, through trusting in Him for salvation. I hope and pray that God enables me to be a good witness to others. Philippians 4:13 Source Christian Post |
