Tensions are increasing in the Middle East, as President Bush has decided to increase the US military presence in the region. George Bush stated that his aim is to send a warning message to President Ahmadinejad that the West is serious about Iran's nuclear programme. Yesterday Ahmadinejad claimed Iran was now a nuclear power, and told Iranians to expect a "nuclear victory" very soon. Quote: "During a speech delivered in the Western Iranian province of Javanroud, Ahmadinejad said: " The Islamic Republic of Iran is now a nuclear power, thanks to the hard work of the Iranian people and authorities." The announcement of Iran as a "nuclear power" is bound to significantly escalate tensions between the West and Iran, and marks a dramatic stage in the Islamic Republic's nuclear campaign. But for an Iranian President that thrives on confrontation, President Bush's "message" is unlikely to have the intended effect. Today Ahmadinejad warned that it will be the US, Britain and Israel that will soon "disappear", not Iran. Once again the Iranian nation slammed Israel over Olmert's admission that Israel has nuclear weapons, and demanded that if Israel refused to allow UN inspectors to view their facilities, that diplomatic or military action should be taken. Quote: ""The aggressive forces will vanish, while the Iranian people will survive - since all who chose God will survive and those who distance themselves from God vanish like Pharaoh," said Ahmadinejad in his speech. "The US, Britain, and the Zionist regime will vanish since they have distanced themselves from God. This is a divine promise," he added. While the US and Britain certainly have distanced themselves from God and will be judged, the Divine promise that the land of Israel was given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for an eternal inheritance, cannot be broken. For this reason, when Ahmadinejad and his Russian and Islamic cohorts mount an invasion of the Holy Land, in spite of Israel's waywardness God's wrath will come up in his face and He will defend Israel for His own name's sake.
