Religious organizations in the United Kingdom have expressed anger after it was revealed a new programme funded by the government is using books to educate school children to the homosexual lifestyle. The "No Outsiders" programme, which has funded by the Labour government to the tune of £600,000, has launched its pilot scheme in several schools. Christian and Muslim groups have expressed their concern over the new curriculum, which will see children as young as four reading stories about two homosexual kings and gay penguins adopting a baby penguin. The UK government repealed a law prohibiting the promotion of homosexuality in schools as an alternative lifestyle in 2003. Quote: "Those leading the project say it is inspired by the words of South African Nobel Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who said in February 2004: "Everyone is an insider, there are no outsiders -- whatever their beliefs, whatever their colour, gender or sexuality." They reject suggestions they are peddling propaganda and say that stories such as "King & King" are no more propaganda than is Cinderella or other traditional fairytales. "These books are presenting one aspect of the spectrum of daily life," Elizabeth Atkinson, director of the project, told BBC radio. "What we are doing is representing reality... Many, many children in this country have this as part of their everyday experience." She said one of the main aims was to prevent bullying of children who have homosexual parents or who are perceived as gay or lesbian by their peers. Kids get bullied for all sorts of reasons. I was bullied in school because of my red hair and surname. I have since learned that there is nothing wrong with me, although it took me a long time to realize that. Bullying is wrong no matter what the reason. It can be prevented through intervention from parents and the board of governors of the school. But using bullying as an excuse to teach children that it is not natural to have a father and mother is demonic. And the British government is at the forefront of re-educating our children. My niece Ami lives in England. Last year she brought home a "fairy-tale" book to read about the environment. My sister, who is a Christian, was shocked, as the book was written from a New Age perspective, and portrayed the earth as a living, breathing entity that spews out mankind because of its destruction of the planet. The book was taken back to the school. This country is once again entering the dark ages. Job 10:22 Source Reuters |
