"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." - Galatians 2:20
By becoming a follower of Christ, there is a price to pay. "Easy" Christianity preachers teach that you say a prayer and then live the way you want, and Christ will bless you and you give you eternal life. This is such a false message and deception. Jesus our Lord made it very clear that His followers will need to suffer, and even face persecution. Life as a believer will not be easy because Satan himself will try everything possible to weaken the faith of a believer. But a true follower will hold strong, deny himself, and be faithful to Christ. Just as apostle Paul said "I am crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me."
