Following the recent developments on the Temple Mount, the Palestinian Mission to the United Nations has written a letter to the United Nations Security Council. Muin Shreim, the Chargé d'affaires of the Palestine Permanent Observer, has condemned the Israeli "occupation" of East Jerusalem, and what he calls the "Judaization" of the city. Mr Shreim has urged the UN Security Council to act against Israel's attempts to "illegally change the status, demographic composition, and character of the Holy City", and ensure respect for "international law". Shreim also condemned Israel's excavation work on the Temple Mount, claiming that it threatens to undermine the foundations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque...

Quote: "In line with this unchecked intransigence, Israeli occupying authorities have gone ahead with the condemnable plan to step up its aggression against Islamic Waqf sites in Occupied East Jerusalem. Most notably, Israeli occupying authorities have begun demolishing a historic road connecting Bab Al-Maghariba with the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound in addition to two rooms adjacent to the Western Wall, thus exposing the Holy Compound and making it more vulnerable yet to future acts of aggression. Additionally, Israeli occupying authorities continue to carry out excavation works below the Holy Al-Aqsa Compound, undermining its foundations and threatening with its collapse.

Meanwhile, the British Guardian newspaper has continued to run its series of anti-Israel articles. Earlier in the week we had the comments of John Hilary, director of campaigns and policies for the British charity, War on Want. John Hilary condemned the oppression of Palestinians by Israel, and lamented the creation of the Jewish state in 1948, which the Palestinians call the "nakba" or great catastrophe. There was no mention of Israeli suffering from Palestinian terrorism which has claimed hundreds of lives, or even the many wars Israel has faced since the declaration of independence, which has created the difficult situation in the Middle East today. John Hilary is joined by another anti-Semite this week, Geoffrey Blindman... sorry Bindman, Chairman of the British Institute of Human Rights. 

Quote: "Then there is the brutal treatment by Israeli occupying soldiers, including the arbitrary arrest and detention of many Palestinians. Family homes are demolished as a form of punishment. There is expropriation of land and the exclusion - condemned by the International Court of Justice - of many Palestinians from access to their land by the wall which now separates a large part of the West Bank from Israel. The assassination of alleged terrorists has been attempted and sometimes carried out with legal impunity.

By using the phrases "alleged terrorists" and "occupying soldiers", Mr Bindman has unwittingly revealed where his loyalties truly lie. He condemns the assassination of terrorists and makes no mention of the victims of their crimes. How sad that such a man is head of the Institute for "Human Rights" in the UK.
