Western diplomats have warned Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that unless an Israeli peace plan is forthcoming, that the Quartet for Middle East Peace (EU, US, UN, Russia) may be compelled to recognize a Palestinian state within the 1948 armistice lines. The statement reveals a growing impatience in the US and EU with the current impasse in the peace process, which have committed themselves to the establishment of a Palestinian state by September of this year. Just a few weeks ago, foreign ministers from the E3 (Britain, France and Germany) recently suggested that a peace agreement could be drawn up by the European Union and the United Nations, in the hope that Israel and the Palestinian Authority could sign up to it and that peace would be forthcoming. But no sooner was this suggested than their American counterparts promptly pulled the plug on the proposal, suggesting that the Europeans had failed in their efforts to bring the two sides together, and that the US was once again taking the lead. Now US President Obama is planning to make a major policy speech on the Middle East in the coming weeks, and presumably that is why they want Netanyahu to come up with a plan. Perhaps the Americans are now realizing what the consequences will be of establishing a Palestinian state at war with Israel, with control over east Jerusalem, and supported by the United Nations. If a Palestinian state is established in the absence of peace, it will be a disaster for the region and the world.

Quote: ""The status quo between Palestinians and Israelis is no more sustainable than the political systems that have crumbled in recent months," she said, saying the only way to meet both people's aspirations was through a two-state solution. And while it is a truism that only the parties themselves can make the hard choices for peace, there is no substitute for continued, active American leadership -- and the president and I are committed to that," she added.

Just a few years ago, during the Second Lebanese War, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called for an eternal covenant of peace with Israel's enemies. His request was denied. But the Bible prophesies that during the last days, a world leader will arise who will strengthen a 'covenant' in the Middle East with many for a period of seven years (Daniel 9:27). As a result of this agreement, Israel shall enjoy a time of peace and safety (1st Thessalonians 5:3). But it will be short-lived. For in the middle of these seven years, this world leader will divide the land of Israel up for his own gain (Daniel 11:39), and half of the city of Jerusalem shall given unto the Gentiles (Zechariah 14:2, Revelation 11:2). And thus the time of Jacob's trouble will commence (Jeremiah 30:7). The Bible predicts there will indeed be world war, and all the nations of the world will gather together against Jerusalem to do battle.

As you can see, the Bible is right up to date. It's not a question of if these things will happen, but when they will happen. Of that we cannot be sure. But there is no doubt, current events in the Middle East are paving the way for the fulfilment of Bible prophecy and the heralding of the Lord's coming. For the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus (Revelation 19:10). All of Bible prophecy centres around the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Bible prophecy foretold Christ's first coming into the world to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself (Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 53:6). And world events now point toward His glorious appearing (Titus 2:13). Jesus Christ is coming back. Are you ready to meet Him? He died for you upon the cross of Calvary nearly 2000 years ago so that your sins could be forgiven. And He is coming back for all those who have believed on Him for salvation (John 14:3). Turn away from your sins, and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation today.

Isaiah 53:5-6
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
